Juniors News & Achievements

This last month has been busy for some of our juniors.
Darcy Mackay played in the Bankstown Junior 6’s who came in 1st place in the U18’s boys competition with scores of 73, 71 and 72.
Then we had Michelle Yang, Annoushka Maikap, Darcy Mackay and Sean Sammons all playing in the Combined High School Championships. The first 2 rounds were played at Moore Park with the final 2 rounds being played at The Coast Recreation Golf Club.
Darcy came in 5th place and qualified for the NSW School Boys Team.
Michelle finished Tied 8th and unfortunately missed qualifying as reserve on a countback. Sean Sammons and Jack Gillet then went to Mollymook Golf Club for the Junior Open. Sean played a great game with a round of 78 and tied 1st place.
In a nail biting playoff starting late afternoon and into the evening the 9th hole was played 4 times until Sean was unfortunately beat literally in the dark under the clubhouse lights. Last week was the JNJG NSW Junior Championships held at Cabramatta Golf Club and Liverpool Golf Club. The format was slightly different this year with the top 100 boys going through to Round 3 and 4 whilst all girls qualified for Rounds 3 and 4. We had 6 of our Juniors attend this year, Annoushka Maikap, Savannah Webb, Darcy Mackay, Andrew Kneeves, Jack Gillet and Sean Sammons. Unfortunately Jack and Sean both missed the cut. Darcy and Andrew both finished in the top 10 for their age group 17 Year Boys. Savannah won the 14 Year Girls in a 1 hole playoff.
Congratulations to all our winners. I am so proud of you all. To those who played and didn’t get the scores that you wanted…….you never gave up and kept fighting. That is also a great achievement and something to keep you in the game.
