Round 7

The SRGC Super Senior Pennant Team ventured to Richmond GC on Tuesday 27 August, 2024 for their final divisional game for 2024 against Brighton Lakes.

It was a perfect day for golf and our Team produced the perfect result winning 8/0. Individual winning results were: – Graham Hann 3/2, Les Szkirpan 4/3, Martin Morrissey 2up, Bernie Balagtas 7/6, Allen Lalor 5/4, Michael Prokurat 2/1, Ray Thacker 2/1 and Phill Cue 2/1. Gary Richards, Danny Martinez, Chris Collins and Mat Horton provided excellent support.

Special mention for Michael Prokurat who played all 6 games and was undefeated.

Unfortunately, SRGC just missed out by half a winning game in progressing to the finals knock out series.

Nevertheless, the Team is to be congratulated on their performance during the competition and the manner in which they represented SRGC displaying integrity, honesty, respect and responsibility at all times. 

Finally, a big thank you to the Club for their support of the competition and our players.

Round 6 

Round 6 of the Super Senior Pennant was played on Friday 23 August,2024 at Cumberland Country GC where we took on Liverpool.

SRGC got off to a solid start and after nine holes held a 6/2 lead overall with most of the matches being very close. On the back nine Liverpool started to make a run and at one stage match scores were 4 all. SRGC managed to weather the storm and came away with a hard-fought victory 5/3. Winners were Graham Hann 2up, Allen Lalor 5/4, Michael Prokurat 5/4 and Phill Cue 4/3 with Les Szkirpan and Martin Morrissey squaring their matches.

Ray Thacker and Bernie Balagtas gave it their best shot, Ray going down on the 17th and Bernie on the 18th. Thanks to Danny Martinez and Chris Collins for their support.

Our final divisional game is next Tuesday 27 August 2024 at Richmond GC where we take on Brighton Lakes at 11:00am.

Round 5

SRGC had the bye on Monday 12 August,2024 and hosted the the six other   clubs.  Results were Liverpool defeated Brighton Lakes 8/0, Cumberland defeated Richmond 6.5/1.5 and Castle Hill defeated Cabram.atta 7/1.

A big thankyou to the SRGC SSP Team and SRGC staff from the various areas for assisting in making the day run smoothly and successfully. Comments from the visiting teams on the quality of the golf course and the hospitality received were very favourable.

Our next game is on Friday 23 August,2024 at Cumberland Golf Club versus Liverpool current Division leaders at 11:00am.

Round 4

Last Monday 5 August, 2024 Round 4 Super Senior Pennant match took us to Brighton Lakes GC at Moorebank where we took on Cabramatta in a must win match. The Team did not disappoint and came away with an excellent win      6.5 to 1.5.

Individual game scores were :-

Les Szkirpan, with his opponent taking the 18th holing a 3 metre birdy, putt for the game to be squared, Graham Hann 3/2 win, Bernie Balagtas, 2/1 win, Gaddee Soriano 4/2 win, Martin Morrissey 2/1 win, Allen Lalor unfortunate to lose the 18th and finish one down, Ray Thacker 3/2 win and Michael Prokurat 2/1 win. The Team was well supported on the day by Gary Richards, Phill Cue and Darren Tait.

Next Monday 12 August we have the bye and host the other six clubs, Liverpool v Brighton Lakes, Cumberland v Richmond and Castle Hill v Cabramatta. SRGC next match is at Cumberland GC on Friday 23 August,2024.

Round Three 

We travelled to Cabramatta Golf Club last Monday 29 July, 2024 for our Round 3 Super Senior Pennant match against arch rivals Richmond. It was another bitterly cold windy miserable winters day not the ideal conditions for golf. The Team got off to a good start and and once again held a lead after nine holes of 4.5 to 3.5. Unfortunately Richmond was able to finish stronger and in a very close finish SRGC went down 4.5 to 3,5. Congratulations to our winners, Gaddee Soriano 6/5, Allen Lalor 2/1 and Michael Prokuart 6/4 with Gary Richards securing a square on the18th.

Thanks again to Phill Cue and Chris Collins for their continued support to the Team.

The next match is at Brighton Lakes GC on Monday 5 August,2024 at 10:30am against Cabramatta.

Round Two

On a delightful winters day last Tuesday 23 July,2024 our Team took on the defending champions Castle Hill Country Club at Liverpool GC to be known as Oak Point GC from ! July,2024. Our Team was  up for the challenge and after nine holes had the defending champions under pressure with SRGC leading 5 games to 3. The lead fluctuated over the concluding holes with the final result finishing in a 4 all draw. Well done to our winners, Bernie Balagtas 4/3, Allen Lalor 3/1, Ray Thacker 1 up (winning the 18th) and Michael Prokurat 2/1 wth a great effort put in by the rest of the Team, Les Szkirpan, Graham Hann, Gaddee Soriano and Martin Morrissey. Thanks for the support for the Team on the day given by Phillip Cue and Chris Collins.

Our Round 3 match is next Monday 29 July,2024 at Cabramatta GC at 10:00am where we take on Richmond GC.

Round One

The 2024 Super Senior Pennant got underway at Castle Hill Country Club last Tuesday 16 July, 2024 in bitterly cold conditions. Our first match was against Cumberland GC.

In a very closely contested match game scores were 4 all after nine holes with the result up for grabs. Unfortunately in a match that went down to the wire, with three games decided on the 18th, Cumberland held on to win 4.5 to 3.5.

Winners for Stonecutters Ridge were Les Szkirpan 1up, Graham Hann 2up and Ray Thacker 4/3 with Michael Prokurat squaring his game. A good contribution was also put in by the rest of the Team, Martin Morrissey, Gaddee Soriano, Allen Lalor  and Gary Richards,

Our next match is on Tuesday 23 July, 2024  at Liverpool against defending champions Castle Hill Country Club at 10:am.
