Our team of young golfers headed off to the Sutherland Shire for the 5^th and final competition round of the Encourage Shield to play against a very competitive Penrith team. We arrived at the well-presented Woolooware Golf Course in windy but warm conditions.

 

With the crowd gathered at the first tee we were led away by our captain Zoe Miller down the first with everyone getting away reasonably well.

 

The Stonecutters crew were playing some impressive golf avoiding the trees and hazards giving all players opportunities to score well. At the halfway house we were up in 3 games and all square in 2 games.

 

The coastal breeze started to pick up on the back nine making the narrow fairways and small greens a challenge for all. Some great performances from all the team with the Final results for the day being

Congratulations to the team we are so proud of you all, a fantastic result!!!

This year, there were 6 divisions in the Jack Newton Encourage Shield, with the winner of each division qualifying for the finals series. Whilst we were very competitive throughout the season we will not be progressing to the finals. Congratulations to The Ridge Golf Club who will be progressing from division 5 and we wish them all the best.

Kids, thank you for a great season. You represented yourselves and Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club very well and should be extremely proud of your efforts and hope you can continue to enjoy the wonderful game of golf.

I would like to thank the parents for their amazing support and commitment in getting the kids to each of the competition rounds over the past 5 weeks. We have been very fortunate to have played at some fantastic golf courses and make some great friends on the journey. We are very proud of each and every one of our kids, being the first time participating in the Encourage Shield. A huge thank you to Ray, Blake and Amanda for your coaching, commitment and sound advice throughout the competition. A special mention to Joe Saw, on behalf of all the parents thank you for the amazing images of our talented team.  

 

It has been a pleasure to be part of this seasons Encourage Shield getting to know the kids and families, I thank you for the opportunity and hope to see you all at the club.
